Media projects
One of my last projects for my Media Convergence class was creating a news package video about something relevant to IUP. I chose to make a video about the university getting rid of a bunch of majors, including Journalism/Public Relations.
Another project that I had to do for my Media Convergence class was create a short story with five different photos. I then had to record audio to explain what was happening in this short story. This allowed me to add different elements like audio and photographs to create a short story with a mini video.
This was an image that I created during my Beginning Photography class. I was able to capture a photo of a bush outside of my apartment and then I used Adobe Lightroom to brighten the purple in the flowers while adding some shadows in the background.
This is another image that I created during my Beginning Photography class. This image was captured by using shutter speed with a technique called light painting. I was able to create this by slowing down the shutter speed and using glow sticks to capture the vibrant colors.
WRITING SAMPLES
In my technical writing class I am creating my own business and completing assignments based on my business. i chose to make my business a private law firm. this is a neutral letter i wrote offering free legal services to a potential client.
Another assignment I had was going to different types of meetings and acting as a beat reporter. I chose to go to the school board meetings at my local high school, Conrad Weiser. This was in the fall of 2020 so most of the meetings revolved around COVID and their revised plans. In this specific beat I reported on the budgets and new coaches hired for sports teams.
In this beat I reported on Conrad Weiser High School and their prom. I interviewed multiple students for their opinion and perspective on the way prom was being handled during the pandemic.
During my time taking a class called Gender in Media, I had to write a media criticism paper. I chose to do it on television shows and how women are underrepresented on television shows. Except in my case, women were not underrepresented in the two shows I watched. I had to do extensive research to support my paper.
My biggest writing accomplishment was writing an article for the local student newspaper, The Penn. In this article I interviewed multiple students and professors on their opinions on finals week. I asked students how they prefer to take their finals, and professors how they prefer to give their finals.
